My first experience with acne came when I was thirteen and wanted to wear makeup, and my mom bought me a bottle of Almay tinted moisturizer. The stuff made me break out violently along my temples and reaching up to my forehead; that was the worst breakout I've had to this day. When I was in high school, I had bangs, and they caused constant pimples on my forehead, even if my hair was always clean and product-free. The forehead pimples were there even if I used salycic acid products daily, slept with an acne treatment mask on my face and never wore makeup above my eyelids, and they disappeared only when I stopped wearing bangs. I have relatively clear skin today but I still get occasional breakouts for no apparent reason, and when they happen, they are terribly difficult to get rid of. So far, sulfur masks work the best for my skin.

The name for acne that is caused by make up is Acne Cosmetica. It's recognized by tiny pink bumps. Acne cosmetica is often mild with minimal chance of scars occurring.
It sounds like you had acne continue even after stopping the use of the makeup that caused a flare up, so you probably had the regular acne as well. It's good to hear you have relatively clear skin today and only get the rare pimple. Sometimes all it takes is time for acne to go away. |

Yeah, sometimes I get some problems with this liquid foundation that my mom uses. I had to stop using it and instead use my own kind. I found a powder type that works really well for my skin. There is also a kind that you can use that is called mineral makeup or something. The stuff is supposed to be all natural and be good for those who break out because of their makeup. It goes on really light, but who needs to gob on the makeup anyway?
